Lōkahi Federal Credit Union and FHLB Des Moines Partner to Support Affordable Housing with $7,500 Grant to Hawaii HomeOwnership Center
Pearl City, HI – Lōkahi Federal Credit Union, in collaboration with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines), is proud to support homeownership opportunities in Hawaiʻi through a $7,500 grant to the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center (HHOC). This contribution, made possible through the Member Impact Fund, will help HHOC continue its mission of guiding local families toward sustainable homeownership.
“At Lōkahi FCU, we believe that financial well-being starts with access to safe and affordable housing,” said Scott Kaulukukui, President/CEO of Lōkahi FCU. “Through this partnership with FHLB Des Moines, we are reinforcing our commitment to strengthening local communities and ensuring that more families in Hawaiʻi have the resources they need to achieve homeownership.”
The Member Impact Fund, established by FHLB Des Moines, provides matching grants to nonprofit and community organizations focused on affordable housing and economic development. Since its inception in 2023, the program has delivered nearly $50 million in funding to support initiatives that empower communities across Hawaii, Utah, and Guam.
“The Member Impact Fund continues to make a meaningful difference in the ability of organizations like HHOC to serve their communities,” said Kris Williams, president and CEO of FHLB Des Moines. “We’re proud to partner with Lōkahi FCU to invest in programs that provide critical resources for families striving to become homeowners.”
HHOC offers home buyer classes & coaching to prepare individuals and families for the homeownership journey. Post-purchase support is also available to ensure homeownership sustainability. The $7,500 grant will support HHOC’s capacity-building efforts, ensuring that more Hawaiʻi residents can navigate the path to owning a home.
“This generous grant will help us expand our efforts to empower local families on their journey to homeownership,” said Reina Miyamoto, Executive Director of Hawaii HomeOwnership Center. “With the support of Lōkahi FCU and FHLB Des Moines, we can continue to provide the resources, education, and guidance necessary to make homeownership a reality for more individuals in our community.”
